The ‘Break Free From Plastic Campaign’ by Pupkewitz Megabuild and Kaap Agri Namibia has injected N$60 000 into the Environment Investment Fund (EIF). The campaign, which was initiated by two companies last year, aims to encourage responsible consumer behaviour.

Pupkewitz Megabuild and Kaap Agri Namibia launched an initiative on 14 December 2018, ‘Break Free from Plastic’; where plastic bags are no longer free of charge. Aimed at aligning with the Government initiatives to encourage a responsible consumption behaviour.

Pupkewitz Megabuild and Kaap Agri customers now pay N$0.50 cents for each plastic bag, earmarked towards environmental projects. Pupkewitz Megabuild and Kaap Agri, together with the Ministry of Environment and Tourism are hereby encouraging all Namibians to embrace the responsible use of plastic bags.

The two companies will donate the proceeds from this project quarterly to the EIF of Namibia for investments into environmental and waste management initiatives. During the first quarter proceeds of N$60 000 was collected.

Together we can build a better and cleaner environment.

This is our planet, our Namibia!
